It never fails to amaze me – this thing called the Body of Christ and how diverse it is. Every church, regardless of denomination, size, shape, geography, etc. is in the same business, which is to glorify God and make disciples of Jesus Christ. We all do it in different ways, have differing levels of style, personality, and even effectiveness. But the Body of Christ is a very complicated and beautiful thing. There are parts of the Body that I strongly disagree with about matters that I think are critically important to the mission of Jesus in the world. But Jesus makes us family, and family is called to love each other even when we don’t like each other. I thank God for the Body of Christ – for our unity in Jesus even when differences threaten that unity.
“For just as we have many members in one body and all the members do not have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.” (Romans 12:4-5)
