Revolution Student Ministry
Who we are!
Welcome to Revolution Student Ministry at Long's Chapel UMC. We want our youth ministry to be the catalyst in preparing our students to live spiritually bold lives in a culture desperately needing to see the difference that living for Christ makes. The apostle Paul explains that we are in a spiritual battle and calls us all to “be alert, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong and to love without ceasing!” We want our youth ministry to ignite students into spiritual revolution. Our program is intended to be a training and proving ground for the next generation of more fully devoted followers of Christ.
The 56rs is changing to become the 76rs and will feature our amazing 6th and 7th grade students! More on this change soon to come!

We pride ourselves on having the best adults serving our youth! We are really proud of our incredible leaders who serve as Sunday School teachers, Life Group leaders, Sunday night leaders, trip chaperones, and more! If you are interested in serving our teenagers and being a part of the most unique team of adults, then give us a call at 456-3993 or download the volunteer form. Upon turning in the form below to the church office you will be contacted by one of the youth leaders for a one on one interview. We are Safe Sanctuaries compliant and require a background check on all of our volunteers!
We are a Safe Sanctuary compliant church. All of our adults must attend Safe Sanctuary Training, fill out a background check form, and a volunteer form in order to serve our youth!
To find out when the next Safe Sanctuary training is please connect with Shawn or Lindsey or call Pam Hayward at the church office: 828-456-3993
We have a student led youth council that serves directly with the youth leaders. They meet once a month to ensure the youth ministry stays on track!
Director of Student Ministries
Shawn has been serving youth and their families since his first gig at Lake Shore UMC in Jacksonville Florida in 2002. He is a graduate from Toccoa Falls College and has a Masters of Arts in Christian Practice from Duke Divinity. Shawn has served Long's Chapel since 2006. He has two kids, Micah and Emma and he enjoys hiking and camping, snowboarding, a good cup of joe, scoping out waterfalls, and long drives on the parkway.
Lindsey is a graduate of Revolution Student Ministries and has recently graduated UNC Pembroke and has come on board to serve as our Youth Coordinator. Although she will be working primarily with our middle school students Lindsey will work in concert with Shawn as they intergrate middle and high school students in a variety of ways! Lindsey has attended Long's Chapel her entire life (23 years) and brings her love of animals and youth, her wild and crazy humor and antics, and her love for Christ to our youth ministry. Lindsey enjoys hiking, Netflix, target shooting semi-automatic hang guns with her brothers, holding puppies and looking for owls.
