Long’s Chapel exists to worship and serve God by reaching people and growing together as passionate followers of Jesus, because all people matter to God. We are not afraid to ask questions, wrestle with, and have open and honest conversations about God and life. We welcome all non-Christians and Christians no matter where they are in their journey of faith. Our commitment to Reach – Grow – Serve is to reach others, to grow deeper and to serve passionately.
Imagine the Vision Journal
Long’s Chapel is embarking on a capital campaign initiative to make our imagining and dreaming a reality. Through dedication, action, prayer, and hard work, as well as the commitment of financial and spiritual resources, the dream will be realized. This Imagine the Vision journal will guide you through the process.
The journal provides information about the history of the church and its progress, growth, and aspirations. We stand today on the shoulders of those who have gone before us and the decisions and sacrifices they make along with the journey.
What is Long’s Chapel’s history?
Since the inception and establishment of the church in 1859, the campus, membership, spiritual growth programs, and community outreach have continued to grow.
A community-focused church with a history of active participation in ministries, Long’s Chapel supports the community in many ways such as providing firewood to people in need, assisting the homeless, and offering extensive children’s programs.
What is “Imagine… Long’s Chapel?”
“God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, His spirit deeply and gently within us.” Ephesians 3:20-21
This spring, the church has launched “Imagine…Long’s Chapel,” a capital campaign to support a campus expansion that will serve as the foundation from which the congregation can increase its strength, dedication, and innovation in doing God’s work.
What is included in the campus expansion?
The proposal includes multi-purpose space where church and community events can occur with seating for 250 at tables and 500 in chairs. The expansion offers new space and offices where ministry can be planned; a café connected to the gathering space where food hospitality can occur; classrooms for Bible study, small groups, and education; indoor play areas for children; and areas to grow ministries within our community.
What will the campus expansion enable Long’s Chapel to do?
Our ministries broaden the vision and enlarge the heart. The expansion of the campus will allow us to serve even more. Through expanding our vision, we are creating a space that will allow us to be a spiritual center for Haywood County, thus strengthening our community, expanding our capacity, and serving Christ in ways never before imagined.
