Frequently Asked Questions

The building will be a community center for our church and Haywood County. The building will feature new children’s space; a gathering area where we can do more than just pass each other in the hallway; new adult discipleship/community meeting space; a new Multi-Purpose Space that will seat 250 at tables and 500 in chairs where church and community events can happen; new ministry office suite where coordination and collaboration of ministry can happen on one floor; a café connected to the gathering space where food hospitality can happen; and classroom areas for Bible study, small groups, and education.

The needs of the Children’s Ministry, Child Enrichment Center, classroom availability, enlarged gathering areas, proximate office space, enhanced flow, community service capabilities, and others are current and pressing. We expect facility limitations will only become more challenging over time as demand increases, which could constrain Long’s Chapel’s ability to reach, grow and serve.

We can grow the Children Enrichment Center and Children’s Ministry beyond their existing capacities, house our staff in one location, provide a central check-in station for children, enjoy a large gathering area for connection between services and events, gain a café, acquire space to house large church and community events, pick up additional classroom and meeting spaces for youth and adults, gain an elevator, get a covered walkway, and acquire an outdoor gathering area with a fire pit.

The estimate for the “turnkey” campus expansion is approximately $7.5 million as presented. This would include all engineering, permitting, site work, construction, furniture, fixtures, and equipment. Generous commitments made during the Imagine campaign will be critical to guide the next steps in the project.

The new building will give us flexibility to repurpose existing space as some activities shift to the new facilities. There are no current, firm plans on repurposing although there are ongoing conversations of being a good steward of our facility.

Long’s Chapel made a decision several years ago to have a multi-venue worship strategy in which we would worship in different styles and times around our existing campus. That allows us the greatest flexibility to reach out with different worship styles and minister to different people. No current, firm decisions have been made about the worship plan after the new building is built however, the new Multi-Purpose Space will be best setup to accommodate modern worship.
