The Second Season Pantry is a free grocery store for our neighbors who are unable to make ends meet or are food insecure where they can select groceries of their choosing. The shopper's name and how many in the household are being fed are the only requirements. Limitations include only one visit per week and limited quantities on food items.
The Pantry is open Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, 9:00 am-Noon and is located at 156 Boundary St, Waynesville, across the street from Haywood Builders Supply.
The Pantry distributes over 200,000 pounds of food annually and typically serves about 500 individuals weekly, with the demand continually increasing. Second Season Thrift Store sales are pivotal to financially supporting the Pantry, along with volunteers, private donations, fundraisers, and Long’s Chapel Methodist Church’s contributions. Much of the food is picked up by volunteers from Manna/Asheville, and Haywood County Manna partners, including Chik-Fil-A, Dollar General, Food Lion, Publix, Starbucks, Pizza Hut, and Walmart. The pantry and thrift store operate primarily with volunteers.
Second Season is the continuation of "The Open Door & Second Blessing Thrift Store" which was founded in 1996. We are beyond grateful for the selfless support of the community through the years. Our new location and change in format from prepared food to a pantry has been well received by those in need and allows our neighbors to select food for themselves and prepare it in their own homes. Again, your volunteer hours, donations, prayers,
and other means of support have been, and continue to be invaluable to this mission to share God's love.
